Randi and Cookies
Writing in the N.Y. Post, Brighter Choice Charter School's Tom Carroll says that UFT President Randi Weingarten wants all the cookies Albany can bake, and outlines the union's stance on the budget as he sees it. On the other side, Randi outlines her view in the Sunday Daily News.Meanwhile, EIA's Mike Antonucci wonders about whether cod/card check could be used to decertify unionization as well as certify unionization, i.e. if 51% of teachers decided they no longer wanted to be represented by NYSUT, could they sign cards and have their school emancipated? Should other unions be allowed to make teachers a better offer and then hand out the cards for quick checking? (The Chalkboard thinks those kinds of important decisions would be best left to a secret ballot, so teachers could vote without pressure from anyone.)
