Black History Month Discussion

Happy February, dear readers.

Both of my sons like baseball, so this is one I've talked about with them many times, and granted it was a much easier debate back before the Barry Bonds/steroids issue crept its way in:

1.) Who hit more home runs in his career, Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron?

2.) OK, then, which slugger has more cubic space devoted to his accomplishments in the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron?

3.) Why in God's name do you suppose that is?

(Then the discussion can move to reminding the kids about the death threats one of them received -- not that long ago, if you really think about it -- as he approached the record, how those threats were connected to the color of his skin, and why all this talk about education being the "unfinished business" of civil rights matters so much.)
