Michele Cahill To Carnegie
I may have missed this if it was reported during the busy holiday season, but I was surprised when I heard about it from someone in the edu-philanthropy world recently: Michele Cahill, senior counselor for education policy for NYC Chancellor Joel Klein, is rejoining the Carnegie Corporation, where she (in part) made a name for herself before jumping to Team Bloomberg after mayoral control was granted in 2002.Cahill will serve as vice president, national program coordination and director of urban education.
One of the things I like about Cahill is that when you deal with her, you always seem to be reminded that she has a soul. Seriously. If you had occasion to encounter her, even during tense situations like overcrowded high school enrollment sessions and the like, you know what I'm talking about. You can't always say that about people in public life.
