Losing Sight
If the Board of Regents was reporting that a diverse public school in your community was doing markedly better than your other schools, would you:a.) Take a good look at what that school was doing and see if the same things could be done in lesser performing schools
b.) Use the school as an example anytime someone laments the fact that the job of teaching today's kids, with their baggage and all, is too much for schools to handle
c.) Argue against allowing the school to remain open
The Buffalo News reports that the Lackawanna Public Schools opted for 'C,' when it came time for the Regents to renew Lackawanna's Global Concepts Charter School. They want the money that kids bring to that particular charter school. If the school is closed, they get the dough.
The educrats and hacks in Lackawanna still think the money is theirs.
Astonishing.
No wonder quality is seldom recognized in education. It's just about the cash.
