Credit For Showing Up
Forget for just a moment the back-and-forth between this blog and EdWize regarding the lifting of the cap on charter schools. They have a post today, from Leo Casey, that strikes me as a blockbuster if you read it in the absence of that temporary charter school battle. (If I was still a puerile tabloid newspaper reporter rather than a puerile tabloid blogger, I'd be all over this one...)
If you've never heard of "Seat Time Credit" for high school kids (I hadn't) and/or you still think the whole standards movement has been too tough on high school kids, read this one. Is it just me, or is this a doozie? Good grief.
UPDATE: The NY Sun has the story this morning. The city says it has always promoted kids if they had a pulse and showed up for class.
