Haunted By Educrats

The infamous "110 Livingston St." building that for many years housed the New York City Board of Education (and all of the corruption and incompetence that came with it) has now been fully converted to luxury condos. Check out the accommodations here.

Sweet. But "Brooklyn's most prized residential address"??? (I thought that was the house under the Cyclone in which Woody Allen's character grew up in Annie Hall?)

One of the funniest experiences I ever had as a reporter was associated with this story. I interviewed an enthusiastic representative from the American Feng Shui Institute about what the contractors would have to do to make sure they removed all the bad chi that was contained in the building. (She didn't seem to understand that New York's Hometown Newspaper was using her in a gag.) Apparently, you had to take the roof off the building to let all the bureaucratic inertia escape. Not sure if that happened.

You can pretty much bet your mortgage that if you move in to one of these units, bribes and kickbacks will be part of the deal.

UPDATE: Leo Casey says the site of 110 Livingston has long been cursed.
