Gothamist On The Case
Alert reader notes that Gothamist is steaming over the story/editorial over the weekend about the 8 phantom charter schools that are taking up space under the stifling cap on new charter schools in the state. The Legislature won't allow more than 100 charter schools, but 8 slots are unfilled because those schools had their charters yanked because they didn't cut the mustard.
Not only are there waiting lists for students at existing schools, there is now a waiting list of proven school operators to provide their services to kids who need them.
UPDATE: NY Sun writes it up here.
