NYC Staffing Changes

A lot of people at the Little League ballpark over the weekend asked what The Chalkboard thought of the announcement the other day that Deputy Chancellor Carmen Farina would be retiring and replaced by Andres Alonso, who had served as chief of staff to Farina and her controversial predecessor Diana Lam.

The UFT and principals union both put out statements last week saying they didn't know Alonso, which was odd since they seem to know everyone.

The Chalkboard only remembers watching Alonso in action once, getting his hat handed to him by former Councilwoman Eva Moskowitz over a bunch of (intentional?) missteps in the early years of NCLB implementation. This was how it played out. It wasn't pretty.
