Canestrari Catholic Schooled

Capitol Confidential's Elizabeth Benjamin notes that Assemblyman Ronald Canestrari (D-Cohoes,) the subject of ads targeting his lack of support for public charter schools, attended Christian Brothers Academy.

Interesting, but certainly not a problem for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-NYSUT,) whose kids also attended private schools. (Or for NYC Education Committee Chairman Robert Jackson, Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, NYC Controller Bill Thompson, Sen. Hillary Clinton, Rev. Al Sharpton, etc. for that matter. Good liberals love school choice, except when it involves other people's kids?)

UPDATE: Some charter-friendly politicians don't like the idea of pressuring the people who are standing in the way of new public charter schools, according to Saturday's Rick Karlin story in the Times Union.
