The Reading Wars in NYC
New York Magazine writer Bob Kolker (and proud new papa) turns in a well-crafted and even-handed piece on the battle over how reading is taught in the city. Check it out here. Even if you don't live in the city, Bob does a good job explaining why each side believes it is onto something worth fighting over. It's worth a read.As I was reading, I started thinking about a possible pay-per-view showdown between Lucy Calkins and Diane Ravitch. I'd pay $24.99 to watch that in a second.
