Lobbying Idea Tid-Bits

SACRAMENTO -- Charter Chuck was looking for some suggestions, so The Chalkboard is merely passing a couple along that came up in different sessions yesterday:

1. Compliments of the govt. relations people with the California Charter Schools Association: When your charter school is making its regular visits to the offices of your local legislators, be sure to bring along a piece of student artwork, with the student's name, age, grade, and the name of your public charter school on it. Encourage the legislator to hang the artwork in their office where they will be reminded of your school every time they pass by.

2. Compliments of the head of the Indiana Charter Schools Association: If your local legislator has done a lot of work on an issue, say getting tough on crime, have your school give them a Crime Fighter Award. Invite them to come to the school to pick it up and have a ceremony. Stroke, stroke, stroke.
