LeBrun Smackdown

NYCSA's Peter Murphy opens up a can of whoop-rump* on Albany Times Union columnist Fred LeBrun this morning, trashing this recent column on charter schools.

Writes Murphy:

Mr. LeBrun claims that only a few charter schools across the state are successful. He's wrong. In addition to Albany's Brighter Choice Charter Schools (which he does recognize), he's ignored the success of most other charter schools throughout the state, starting with the International Charter School of Schenectady, a winner of this year's Pathfinder Award for academic success. This school is the highest performing elementary school in both English and mathematics in Schenectady, outscoring the city's other 11 public schools.

The entire letter can be found here.

* I'm trying to clean up the blog a bit for Lent.
